Betty Jo Zugel

Betty Jo was born on 7/19/1950 and died on 7/7/2021, at home after a brief illness. A self-proclaimed hippie, she loved all things including hummingbirds, tiger lilies, dream catchers and was a fan of fun and wild clothing and jewelry. She loved the color purple. She collected elephant figurines; only those with their trunks going up, as trunks that went down were considered bad luck. It is said that her most prized possessions were her grandchildren. She worked in the food service industry before retirement in the early 2000's. Betty Jo is preceded in death by her loving parents Grats and Irene Howard; a brother Gene Howard, sisters Linda Howard and Penny Bergeon; and her only daughter Angela Marie Loughry. She is survived by her brothers; David and Karen Howard, Bucky and Birdy Howard, Kenneth Howard, and by her sisters; Marcia and Rick Wells, Vivan and John Orrison and Emily Howard. Three sons; Dale S. and Cheryl Loucks, Andrew Zugel and Aaron and Cassandra Zugel. Grandchildren; Danielle and Andrew Geister, Lauren Fox, Dale P. Loucks, Kyle Russell, Addison Zugel, Madelyn Zugel and Ava Grace Zugel. Great grandchildren; Karma, Miracle, Zander, Hagan, Ava Marie and Emma. A memorial service celebrating Betty Jo's life will be held at the Pentecostal Church of Christ, 6097 Marsh Road, Shelbyville, MI 49344 on July 17, 2021, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Risner officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service and everyone is welcome. While visiting Betty’s tribute page please take a moment to light a candle or share a memory with the family.
