Biruta Astra Abuls

Biruta Abuls July 28, 1929 – January 11, 2021 Biruta Abuls, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 11th, 2021, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Dzintars Abuls. She is survived by three children: Peteris (Cherie) Abuls of Winnetka, IL; MIkelis (Tia) Abuls of Brookfield, WI and Diana (Andris) Karklins of Plainwell, MI and eight grandchildren: Kristine, Karlis, Livia, Marks, Davis, Robert, Solvita and Katrina. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Velta (Janis) Lazda of Glenview, IL. BIruta was born in Riga, Latvia in 1929, and grew up in Rucava, Latvia immigrating to the United States in 1949 and becoming a US citizen. She was a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo, MI. A private funeral service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Latvian Center Garezers or the American Latvian Association for the benefit of the Cultural Affairs division.
