Dolores Jean Ptacek

Delores "Jean" Ptacek, age 88, passed away at her home in Portage, Michigan, surrounded by her family on the morning of Wednesday, May 29, 2019. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who brought joy and made new friends wherever she went. Jean was born on March 4, 193 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Harry and Harriette (Burnside) Nast. She married Joseph Ptacek on September 22, 1951. She worked for the Upjohn Company before starting her family and retired from a long career at the Midwest Fastener Company. Jean enjoyed reading, playing cards, puzzles, shopping, and spending time with her beloved friends and family. She was a long-time member of St. Catherine's Church. Jean is preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Ptacek; her daughter: Theresa Ptacek; and sisters: Lillian Merchant and Mary Thysse. She is survived by her son: Steve Ptacek; daughter: Robin Lehrman; daughter-in-law: Teresa Ptacek; grandchildren: Jennifer Ptacek, Lesley Ptacek, Joe Ptacek, Kolby Lehrman, and Max Lehrman; sister: Florence Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave., Portage, Michigan with luncheon to follow.
