Henry "Hank" A. Kite

HENRY ALVIN KITE SR "HANK" passed away peacefully in his home in Paw Paw. At the time of his death he was surrounded by family and friends whom loved & cared for him. He had been dealing with several health issues and ultimately passed away on this sad day of August 6, 2020 at age 66. Hank was born on March 10th, 1954 in Kalamazoo, MI. He grew up in Parchment, MI with his parents, Larry and Elaine Lonsbury, and his siblings Carol, Annette, Sandy, Lorri and Sonny. Hank married in 1974 and moved to Springmont Ave in Kalamazoo MI. There, they had two sons, Henry Kite II and Jeremy Kite. After several years, he moved to Fremont, OH, taking a job at Swift-Eckrich until the plant closed years later. He then moved back to MI living in Mattawan for a number of years as he worked at Vista Business Forms. His final move was made to Paw Paw as he then Worked at Coca-Cola which was where he eventually retired from. It was clear that he adored his two sons with ample pictures of them throughout his home. Hank was all about instilling morals into his children with his token "Right is right, and wrong is wrong" speech. He also was proud of his four grandchildren: Trace, Shylynn, Tessa, and Sawyer Kite. Hank enjoyed camping, golfing, motorcycles, building/fixing things and often spent a lot of time helping people with projects which led to his career in industrial maintenance with a specialty in industrial electricity. He was described by several people as the person who could fix nearly anything. Hank had met a special lady, Ruth Weeks, through family members. She brought a smile to his face and seemed to hit it off immediately. Ruth had come from a large family and changed Hank in many ways, all for the better. Hank referred to Ruth on many occasions as a "God send." Ruth was able to step in and lovingly help take care of him when his body began to fall short of his aspirations. Ruth continued to care for Hank as he slipped away from us, leaving a large hole in our hearts. Hank was preceded in death by his father, Harry Kite, his siblings Sonny Lonsbury and Annette Lucht, and a grandson, Jamie Kite. He is survived by his children Henry (Heather) Kite; Jeremy (Shawna) Kite; parents: Elaine and Larry Lonsbury; three siblings: Carol Lewis, Sandy Kite, and Lorri Ann Smith, four grandchildren Trace, Shylynn, Tessa, and Sawyer Kite; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends. A get together to celebrate Hanks life will be held at his favorite place “Home” in Paw Paw on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 2 to 5pm. We love you dad! We hope to make you proud, and we will see you again someday. While at Hank’s webpage at www.mccowensecord.com please take time to sign his guestbook and/or sharing a memory with the family. The Kite family is being assisted by the McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 409 S. Main Street Vicksburg, MI 49097 269-649-1697.
