The world lost a great person, Paul “Champ” Eisenhardt, on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Born in Kalamazoo and raised in Comstock where he graduated in 1958. Paul was a star athlete. He received awards in Varsity track, Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Continuing on as an adult, He played fast pitch softball. Champ was also an avid bowler. While living on Long Lake in Scotts for many years, Champ had a love for fishing with his buddy, Jimmy Vanloo, whom proceeded him in death. (Guess what they are doing now!!) Champ retired from General Motors after 30+ years of service. All of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his everything, his world, the sparkle in his eye. He loved to watch them play sports and cheer them on from the side lines. While spending the winters in Bradenton Florida for the past 19 years, nothing made him happier than when his grandchildren and great grandchildren would come to visit. He really enjoyed going to the penny casinos with his buddies to see who could win the most gift cards. Champ will be dearly missed by his wife of 38 years, Sharon; children, Catherine (Ed) Nyberg, of MI, Scott Eisenhardt, of FL, James Dekker Jr., of MI, Julie Dekker, of MI, grandchildren: Amber (Ben) Hammon, Shalyn (Jordan) Bourdo, Rachel Nyberg, Kyle Nyberg, Emilee (Devon) Jones, Chelsea (Jesse) James, Mareea Dekker, James Dekker III. Great grandchildren: Nolan, Madysen (Payton), Holland, Everly, Julianah, Carson, Brecken, Wyatt, Dakota Rose, Matthew and Baby Jones, due in 2021. Sister in law, Pat DeBoer, brother in law, David Leedy as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Paul; siblings: David, Bob and Ruthann (sis); his nephews: David and Jeff; niece Rhonda; daughter in-law, Tracy Dekker and Brother in law, John DeBoer. As per Paul’s request, cremation has taken place. The family will gather at a later date to celebrate the life of their beloved.
