Sheryl Aden

Sheryl Jean Aden Sheryl or Sherry (which she often went by) was the light of her family's life. She always put the needs of her family and friends first. She had the most unforgettable laugh that would inspire everyone around to enjoy the punchline as much as she did. However, she stated many times that her grandchildren gave her the most joy. Anyone that met her would only speak of her kindness, caring personality, and warm smile.. Sherry was born on July 6th, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of three children. Her parents Ed and Ginny could not be more excited to start their family. Ed often traveled for work and the family had to move nearly every year. The next year the family welcomed Sheryl’s sister Rhonda and four years after that they welcomed baby sister Linda, whom Sherry dubbed Linda Lee La Princess! Sherry always told stories about hows she and Rhonda “helped” with their new “baby doll” Linda! Changing diapers (sticking her with diaper pins), feeding, and playing with her. In her youth, Sherry was a mischievous toddler, a singer (even humming while she ate), a ballerina, a girl scout, and a water skier. As she got older, she became a bit of a hippy, a rebel, an adventurer, a bridesmaid, an everlasting big sister, a trusted friend, and the woman who always offered a sincere hug and a smile. Some of Sherry’s best memories were with her Daddy, Ed. She recalled great adventures with him learning how to snow ski and water ski. She also held onto fond memories of going on trips to visit her cousin Carol. The two of them were thick as thieves and just as clever! Sherry treasured the memories of being a bridesmaid in Carol’s wedding. Sherry’s family moved to Portage, Michigan where she attended High School at Portage Northern. Sadly, her family needed to move to New York her Senior year and after a long and heart-wrenching conversation with her Daddy, Sherry decided to stay behind. She finished with high school in 1975. Being on her own at such a young age was a thrill for Sherry. She was a very hard worker and a firm believer of the mantra “you earn everything in life”. She worked as a waitress at BigBoy for a long time and then decided to enroll in Kalamazoo Valley Community College studying computer programming, slowly but surely obtained her associates degree. But Sherry loved working with customers at the restaurant and ultimately decided to keep working as a server. This decision lead to her meeting the love of her life, Terry Kleinbrink. Terry and Sherry met at Halloween party in 1984. She was dressed as Frankenstein's bride and Terry was a mad scientist that loaned his mask to a friend. Their relationship moved quickly and easily. They soon moved in together. And after a few years enjoying their lives together, on Terry’s birthday October 2, 1987 - they got married. It was a small ceremony with the justice of the peace and a party at their home afterwards. Terry and Sherry welcomed their daughter Miranda to the world on April 6, 1988. Sherry was in labor for days and would tell the story of going to a chinese buffet and having loud contractions in the middle of their meal! Three years later the couple had their son, Dylan on February 28, 1991. The family of four moved to Plainwell in 1993 and has lived in their family home ever since. Sherry began working at Pizza Hut in 1995 and quickly became a town favorite, creating friendships with her customers and coworkers. She really loved this line of work, and loved to make her customers feel like family. Sherry worked at Pizza Hut for 22 years, moving up the hierarchy to become General Manager in 2015. She was a Mother to all her employees and held a special place in her heart for each of them. Sherry left Pizza Hut in 2018 to spend time with family and work on some health issues. Sheryl Jean Aden passed peacefully surrounded by her family on January 9, 2020. Sherry was preceded in death by her father Edwin Aden (2001); mother-in-law Mary Davis (2007); and step-daughter Amy Cline (2010). Surviving is her husband Terry Kleinbrink; daughter Miranda (Richard) Nance; son Dylan Kleinbrink; mother Virginia Aden; sisters Rhonda (Ivan) Kahn, Linda (Michael) Smith; and last but definitely not least her grandchildren Aurorah, Winnrey, Arizona, Everley, and Phoenix. Sherry will be remembered with love in our hearts, big smiles on our faces, and laughter on our lips. It is in this spirit that we celebrate the time she shared with us. With laughter and not with tears! The Celebration of her Life will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Gun Plain Township Hall. The event will take place from 3:00-7:00 pm.
